Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Did tye Co.orado Run Half Marathon this morning. This was a pretty low-key event with a few hundred people. Point-to-point course with about 150ft net elevation drop...but lots of rolling hills and sharp turns made for a fair, if not slow, course. Treated this like a paid tempo run, and cruised at a medium to hard effort to take first (and $200) by about 5 minutes. Splits were 5:03, 5:27, 5:30, 5:33, 5:15, 5:23, 5:46, 10:32 (2 miles), 5:28, 5:19, 5:43, 5:23, 35s.

Took it easy today, 6 miles on the Power/Spring Creek Trail during noon hour. Garmin died midway, but I was doing about 7:30-pace.

Boyd Lake, 20 miles. Tried to do a 4-3-2-1 workout, but bailed after the 3-mile segment. Calves and achilles were protesting the whole time, and I wasn't hitting target paces, so I thought that was my body's way of telling me to pull the plug. Tempo splits were (5:27, 5:29, 5:35, 5:29), and then (5:41, 5:32, 5:29). Averaged 6:50/mile for the 20 miles (but last 7 miles were about 8-minute pace). Blah.
