Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Took yesterday off, and today as well.

Predictably, I woke up Sunday morning with the full head cold and cough I've been avoiding. I think I took enough Emergen-C and had enough sheer willpower to stave it off until after the race...but the race itself probably broke down whatever immunity I had left, so now I'm paying the price. But that's okay. I don't mind being sick during my downtime.

I'll get back at it in a day or two. Will go into summer maintenance mode for at least a couple weeks...just long singles and mileage up to about 80/week. It's hard to get good quality in during the hot season. Still need to decide what fall marathon to do. I've been leaning toward Twin Cities all year, but Wichita, Columbus, and Indianapolis are all somewhat in the running.

Back at it (although gradually). Did 6 miles this morning, Fossil Creek to Mason Trail. No watch. Soreness is mostly gone, but legs are still a bit rubbery. I have one week to get in shape for the 4th of July 5K.

Loveland Trail, out toward Walmart. 8 miles, averaged 8:00/mile.

Decided today to run the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on Nov 2. Twin Cities and CIM were also good options, but this one is a fast course, and fits my timeline nicely. Excited.
