Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Did a tempo on the First Dam Run 10K course, followed by 8x30 hill charges on the Boulevard. Gray and snowy today, although nothing was sticking to the roads yet. But it was a less than inspiring day to run, and kind of a "bleh" workout. Tempo splits were 6:05, 6:03, 6:04, 5:49, 5:47, 5:40. Average pace for the entire run was 6:17/mile.

Did a loop out west and north of Smithfield. Very rural and nice, with a few really soft dirt roads. I probably saw about 3 cars the entire. It was absolutely gorgeous out today, and I just let my body take me at the pace it wanted to go. And apparently my body wanted to go fast. Splits were 6:20, 6:30, 6:22, 6:11, 6:26, 6:01, 5:58, 5:59, 6:06, 5:55, 5:51, 6:06, 5:56, 5:53, 5:58, 6:35. 6:07/mile average for 16 miles. For a while, 6-minute pace was feel pretty darn comfortable, but I was working hard during the last few miles, especially since they were a gradual uphill. The final mile (which is a big uphill) about killed me.

Great day to be alive.
