Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Feeling 95% better from strep infection. Still, I decided to take one more day off for good measure. After all, it's just running.

I resumed training today, but am easing into it; nothing hard until I'm not with antibiotics. Did a loop around the east side of Smithfield, 5.75 miles averaging 7:30/mile. It felt pretty good.

Smithfield Canyon out-and-back. 9 miles, 6:52/mile average. My left glute was really sore from tearing around the house last night with Seth on my shoulders. Funny how running 10 miles at 6-minute pace makes me feel nothing, but playing hard with my kid for two minutes makes me sore.

Did a tempo run today, 12.25 miles on the Bear River Loop. I didn't really look at my watch at all, just ran at whatever pace my legs wanted to go. As usual for this type of workout, it was a progression; splits were 6:09, 6:00, 5:56, 5:58, 5:56, 5:47, 5:46, 5:37, 5:47, 5:50, 5:46, 6:03. (5:54/mile average). The first half is a general downhill (toward the Bear River), second half generally a slight uphill (away from river, toward mountains). But most people would describe it as "flat". I was working pretty hard on the last few miles to maintain that pace on the incline, but felt pretty good. Beautiful day to run.
