Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Ran the Loveland Sweetheart Classic (4-miler) to kick off the 2015 season. I was hoping to at least run under 21:00, but fell a little short of that. Definitely not in the same shape as I was 2 years ago, when I ran 20:23 on the same course.

Good weather, mid-40s with no wind. The course is fairly flat, with some short hills and inclines. Mixed road and bike path. The race started well for me, and I took the lead after about half a mile, and I didn't expect anyone to go with me. But a guy (Scott Foley) caught up to me a little before 2 miles, and he looked pretty good. My first two miles were both 5:08, but I was starting to slow down. My last two miles were both right at 5:25, whereas Scott ran his at about 5:15, and finished about 25 seconds ahead of me.

So I've got a ways to go in terms of fitness, but it's an okay start. Next race will be Sharin O the Green 5K on St Patty's day, and then Canyonlands Half the next week in Moab.
