Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

travel day, I took the day off running. Travel out to Houston was good and uneventful. Met Karen from the blog and chatted with her during the shuttle ride. Arrived at the host hotel at about 2pm. Checked in with USATF, checked my race gear (they are wayyy anal). Then got a 20 minute massage that turned out to be 50 minutes...and very deep. Both good things, although I'm glad I got it today and not tomorrow. Showered, then ate dinner. Everything here is very nice. My roomate is Peter Gilmore, although he has not arrived yet. Wish that my family were here, although Zoe got sick last night, so it's a good thing on multiple counts that they stayed. Now that I'm here I really realize how much I've moved on...I know very few people, and rather wish I was at home rolling around with my kids. Well, if I can just make it to Saturday, I will feel "at home" once I start running

So they are really cracking down on all the uniform rules, huh?

Peter's "Get out the door and run" blog post from a year or two ago is one of the simplest, best pieces of running advice I've ever read.

Get some rest, stay relaxed... really excited to see how it plays out on Saturday.

Did you race against Peter once?

Glad they didn't pull a Boston and give away your hotel room.

Welcome to being an old family man! I guess your uneventful arrival was better than Josh Cox's attempted carjacking!

Enjoy the experience and rip it up!

Jon, I met Peter a couple years ago at RnR Seattle, but we were in different races.

Dave, yes that's why I took the shuttle! Very small chance of being shuttle-jacked.

Good luck Saturday! Being there must be an incrdible experience, but going home will be nice too
