Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Mt Sneffels Half Marathon. Unfortunately, was not in great shape for this one, but I took it out conservatively and ended up at least finishing decently strong.

The course is at 7800', with lots of uphill the 1st 2 miles, and then net downhill on dirt roads the rest of thee way. It is deceptively hard. Mario Macias won with 1:06:10, over Jeffrey Eggleston's 1:06:36. Two Kenyans, Geofrey Terer and Stanley Boen, finished about 45 seconds ahead of me...they were coming back the last couple miles, but I would have needed about 2 more miles to catch them! I ended up at 1:10:30, which was 20 seconds faster than my time here two years ago, and not terrible off of my 50 mpw I've been running.

Mile markers were all over the place, so I'm not going to bother posting splits. What I did pick up was that I ran a slight negative split. Ran the last 11 miles alone, but it's a beautiful course and I enjoyed the day.

Workout with Mike. We did a "neuromuscular workout" (according to Mike). 30 minutes continuous with 45s at 5K pace followed by 2:15 at about 5:50/mile pace...repeated 10 times. Kind of hard, because you don't get any easy recovery, but I got used to as the workout went on, and it wasn't too bad. We were about 4:55-pace on the 45s parts, and 5:45-5:50 on the slow tempo portions. 12 miles total, averaged 6:24/mile.
